American Rose Theater seeks to entertain and educate the audiences on the nostalgic performing art form of Burlesque and Vaudeville, as well as empower individuals to find beauty within themselves through the art form of Burlesque.
WHAT IS BURLESQUE?
The Burlesque art form came about in America beginning in the mid 1800's, to entertain the lower and middle classes, by mocking (or burlesquing) the social habits of the upper class. It is often known as the "misunderstood genre" as many think of it only as women stripping to a bump and grind musical beat. Although the element of the strip tease came to be in the declining years, Burlesque would entertain audiences in earlier decades with its comedic acts and musical numbers. Today, Burlesque is being resurrected all over the world with groups forming to pay homage to the classic art form with beautiful women performing their own acts with an entertaining story, and also incorporating side show acts as well as nostalgic Vaudeville numbers. American Rose Theater considers a Burlesque show more than just an average strip tease, it is beautiful art form that is making a come back and entertaining audiences internationally.
